The Solution
Flight cockpits F/A-18C fighter based on a 3DOF motion platform powered by Dogfight Boss
Dogfight Boss offers high-end simulator-ready cockpits for flying enthusiasts, training and simulation centers, and for everyone with a serious interest in flying. The cockpit shells are built from Alubond (Dibond) - a rugged aluminum composite panel. It is durable yet lightweight, takes highly detailed printed textures, and can be cut into any shape, which suits transportable cockpits. Combined with the construction method developed at Dogfight Boss in the Czech Republic, the result is a cockpit that is reliable yet light and easy to move, and that fits most flight applications - even training set up at home in a small apartment.
The main design goals for the F/A-18C fighter simulators were a small, lightweight body, easy transport, very quiet operation and compatibility with VR HeadWay for a smoother VR experience. Flight cockpit simulator is based on 3DOF motion platform PS-3TM-550 with payload up to 550 kg, which is enough to carry the cockpit with equipment and a pilot.

“We are very happy with the integration of our F/A-18C flight cockpit with the motion platform provided by Motion Systems. By using a motion platform that is lightweight, quiet and very easy to transport, we are able to supply our simulators not only to professional customers with large training rooms, but also to home users or small simulation centers.” - Dogfight Boss
Dogfight Boss flight simulators work in Mixed Reality environment. The fully wired cockpit, for DCS, was tested with XTAL goggles. The ForceSeatPM software that controls the motion system adds features such as VR HeadWay - motion compensation that keeps the view stable in the headset and helps reduce VR sickness during long sessions.
